Dr. Sheri Wood received a B.A. in Biology from the University of Delaware and a D.V.M. from Ohio State.  After graduation, Dr. Wood worked in private practice for several years before moving full-time to shelter medicine in 2009. Throughout her 24 years of experience in the veterinary field, Dr. Wood started the first high volume spay/neuter clinic in the state of Delaware and has taught as an adjunct faculty professor at Delaware Technical Community College for the past five years. Dr. Wood owns 2 cats, 2 dogs, a rabbit, and 4 ducks, and she likes to spend her free time going camping and hiking.

Dr. Sarah Landon received her B.A. in English Literature and Chemistry from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte and her D.V.M. from North Carolina State University. She worked in small animal private practice for several years before completing a post doctoral research fellowship at Duke University. She then returned to private practice for seven years before joining BVSPCA in 2018.  With 15 years professional experience, she has also been an adjunct professor at Delaware Technical Community College in their Veterinary Technology program for the past 5 years. Dr. Landon has 2 dogs and 2 cats and in her free time enjoys painting and drawing, playing the violin, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Sami Moon graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University. She has been working and volunteering with rescues, shelters and Trap Neuter Return (TNR) programs since she was in middle school and it is truly her passion! While in vet school, she served as one of the high quality, high volume spay/neuter technicians and helped train and support 4th year vet students even before she became one herself. Through an externship and courses specifically targeting shelter medicine, Dr. Moon gained the specialized knowledge and skills for being a shelter veterinarian. Prior to joining the BVSPCA team in 2022, she served as one of the staff veterinarians for BARCS in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Moon is particularly passionate about helping shelter animals before they find their forever homes. She also enjoys helping offer accessible medical and surgical care for owners in the community. She loves to work with the other veterinarians at BVSPCA, sharing skills and collaborating for the care of the animals. Dr. Moon has two special needs cats from the very neonatal kitten rescue that started her passion for shelter medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys knitting, reading, watching movies, and playing games with her friends and family.

Dr. Sherritta Ridgely earned her B.S. in Biology from Cornell University, College of Agriculture.  She attended Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine where she developed a strong interest in veterinary pathology and laboratory animal medicine.  After earning her D.V.M., she worked in private practice at Rahway Animal Hospital in Rahway, NJ, before entering a veterinary pathology residence at Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, where she also earned her Ph.D. in Veterinary Science.  Returning home to New Jersey, she worked at Banfield Pet Hospital.  She then worked at Rutgers University as a Clinical Laboratory Animal Veterinarian and served as a consultant for Ramapo College. Most recently she worked as a veterinarian at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey for over seven years before joining the BVSPCA family.  Dr. Ridgely enjoys spending time with family, visits to amusement parks, beaches, camping, hiking and gardening.  She also enjoys taking pictures and creating photo projects.

Dr. Maya Samuelson grew up in Connecticut, where she participated in her high school's agriscience and FFA program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Vermont in 2021 where she majored in Animal Science. Dr. Samuelson graduated from The Ohio State University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2025. After graduation, she moved to Delaware to start her career in veterinary medicine at Brandywine Valley SPCA. She is particularly interested in veterinary forensics and loves being able to partner with the Office of Animal Welfare. Dr. Samuelson can be found working in our shelters, doing surgery, and in our low-cost clinics working with owned animals. When she is not helping animals, Dr. Samuelson enjoys spending time with her community, volunteering at her church, and spending time outside.

Dr. Kaleigh Tomasson earned her B.S. in Biology from Saint Joseph’s University and her V.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating, she began her career in private practice, where she treated dogs, cats, and exotic animals. During this time, she developed a strong interest in both surgery and internal medicine. Outside of her regular schedule, Dr. Tomasson frequently volunteered at animal shelters, providing spay and neuter services. It was through this work that she discovered her passion for high-quality, high-volume surgical care, as well as the critical need for accessible, low-cost veterinary services. In 2025, Dr. Tomasson joined BVSPCA, where she now divides her time between clinic appointments and surgery. She shares her home with two cats, and in her free time enjoys powerlifting, cycling, traveling, and exploring new restaurants with friends and family.

Dr. Casey Wanros attended University of Delaware and Drexel University prior to moving for veterinary school at Michigan State University. During her time in college, she worked for many years as a licensed veterinary technician and then decided to pursue veterinary school. During her clinical year in veterinary school, she completed a six-week externship at the BVSPCA spaying and neutering shelter pets. After graduation, she worked in small animal general practice. Dr. Wanros is originally from Delaware and decided to come back after school to be close to her family. She currently has two cats, Stormy and Butters, and hopes to adopt a dog soon.
